About the Nourish Practice

INNER WORK

Combining the benefits of many body-mind disciplines, the Nourish Practice is an easy, revolutionary, Earth-based, embodied meditation experience that dissolves stress and fosters a deep sense of fulfillment, calm, connection, and rejuvenation.

It is a life-changing and transformational practice that creates a body-centered experience for learning how to receive and feel fulfilled—precluding our need to try to “be happy” and fill ourselves with the consumer goods and things that can never fulfill us, which lead to addiction, excess consumerism, and further numbing ourselves to the inherent beauty and gifts of life.

In our outward-oriented, assertion-oriented lifestyles, we forget how to receive what we need to re-fuel and re-charge. The Nourish Practice allows this to happen physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We forget that many forms of nourishment cannot be grasped and achieved; they must be received. This is especially true of intangible forms of nourishment, such as the inner experiences of love, appreciation, awe, gratitude, and beauty. Through the Nourish Practice we work with the breath in a new way, what I call “being breathed by the breath,” as a vehicle for nourishing our deepest selves.

We can eat well and do all the “right” things, but unless we know how to receive these benefits, we tend to simply employ more doing, without really receiving the core nourishment from “good habits.” We never really become fulfilled or settle in to know true peace and ease in our bodies. In other words, no matter what we do, we have to be inwardly capable of receiving the intangible beauty of our experiences. To truly enjoy and give back to life we have to know how to receive and appreciate.

The Nourish Practice therefore creates a deep psychic template for receiving, which allows to begin to gain perspective on everything lumped onto our lives, which we can then to begin to let go. It is therefore indispensable for anyone who endures not only stress, overwhelm, anxiety, and exhaustion, but especially those wanting to nourish, or turn over, a new leaf—by “fertilizing the soil of their psyche,” if you will.

The Nourish Practice is Earth-based and pregnant with soulful and somatic activism. As an environmental act of justice and sustainability, the Nourish Practice allows us to become friendly and intimate with the amazing physical, energetic, and surprisingly wise terrain of our deep bodies. As a wellness practice, as we become more integrated, honest, and kinder to ourselves, we can treat others and the planet this way.

SERIES I is the foundation of the Nourish Practice. It is an embodied meditation and gentle qi gong practice. Level I integrates mind with body through sustained, intimate, focused attention deep in the body. It fosters a cognitive and embodied template for receiving tenderness, goodness, patience, attention, and vital energy deep in our core. This is a rejuvenative practice, especially helpful for anxiety, insomnia, and burn-out. It restores a sense of calm and ease, as well as our connection with the world. Level I is available here.

SERIES II utilizes the intimacy, sensitivity, and integration cultivated in Series I to embrace our core wounds. Where Series I relies on the experience of allowing ourselves to be “breathed by the breath,” Series II builds on this by “letting our emotions feel us.” Emotionally, healing happens paradoxically—by embracing and welcoming our hurts with open arms, the loving presence of our abiding self-care. Series II employs the deep body-mind intimacy, relationship with “other,” image-work, and body-centered wisdom to show up for feeling and working with the hurts stored in our bodies that block our vitality, sense of meaning, and ability to give and receive love. Series II is a nourishing process via the clearing of pain, simultaneous with the recovery of inner resources—our innate talents, vitality, passion, love,  wisdom, and compassion—through our own self-care, courage, and unconditional presence. Embodying grief work is the heart of Level II work. The more we love, the more can grieve, and the more we can grieve, the more we can love. Parts I & II and are available here.

SERIES III is the spiritual level, which I understand to the creative and service-oriented level of personal development. It is how we give back to life for gifts appreciated at Series I and the deep heart (love) and vitality we recovered in Series II. When we come deeply in touch with ourselves in Series I,  then work through our emotional wounds at the same level of body-centered intimacy, our minds unite with our soul as the whole heart and—free of obstructions, once repressed hurts, and their attendant limiting beliefs—through this now clear and integrated channel we can be of service to the soul of the world (individuals, collective values, the natural world) by helping others live with comprehensive integrity. Work at this Level is mostly about how to integrate, build, and share our newfound creativity and passion rescued through Series I and II. Series III is not yet available.
